School Caretaker / Maintenance Site Operative / Porterwith hands on knowledge of DIY and building maintenance is required to for a well-established forward-thinking School based in Bradford, West Yorkshire

SALARY: £26,046 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Bradford, West Yorkshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: Shifts operate on a 5-day rotating pattern (including one Saturday in every 4 weeks):

6:00am to 2:45pm – Monday to Friday (with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break)
1:15pm to 10:00pm – Monday to Friday (with a 45-minute unpaid lunch break)
6:00am to 5:00pm – Saturday (with a one-hour unpaid lunch break)

If you are on duty when a function finishes late, your start time the next day will be adjusted accordingly to ensure you receive an 11 hour rest period.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a School Caretaker / Maintenance Site Operative / Porterwith hands on knowledge of DIY and building maintenance.

Working as a Caretaker you will provide caretaking, janitorial and portering services to the School and assist with maintenance and security.

As a Caretaker your main duties will be preparing all areas of the School for daily activities including routine lessons, assemblies, functions, open days and meetings.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Caretaker will include:

Preparing all areas of the School for daily activities including routine lessons, assemblies, functions, open days, meetings, etc
Locking and unlocking all buildings at appropriate times
Portering duties including accepting, recording and delivering of goods and mail to relevant recipients
Manning reception before and after school in order to receive/despatch post to Royal Mail
Assisting with stock control of variety of materials including chemicals
Undertaking cleaning duties (particularly cleaning of toilets) as necessary
Providing security for the site and at Frizinghall railway station before and after school.
Carrying out minor maintenance tasks
Assisting with the programmed maintenance of the premises, reporting damage and breakage to the Estates Manager

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Good organisational skills
Experience of manual handling (training will be provided)
Previous cleaning experience (training will be provided)
Previous experience of working within a school environment (desirable)
Flexibility (occasional weekend work and additional cover will be expected)
Excellent inter-personal skills
Hands on knowledge of DIY, building maintenance, etc.
Appointed first aider (training will be provided)
