Legal File Handler – Minor Traumatic Brain Injury Claims
Location: Liverpool| Hybrid | Full-time | Permanent

We’re working in partnership with a leading legal services provider who is looking to recruit a Legal File Handler to manage a caseload of minor traumatic brain injury claims arising from road traffic accidents. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a progressive and supportive team, with a focus on delivering high-quality legal services and compassionate client care.

Role Overview

You’ll be responsible for handling a caseload of personal injury claims valued up to £25,000, including both OIC and MOJ RTA claims. The role involves assessing medical evidence, liaising with clients and external experts, and ensuring claims are progressed efficiently and fairly in line with legal and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of minor traumatic brain injury claims, pursuing all relevant heads of loss
Identify and support vulnerable clients, documenting additional care provided
Gather and assess medical and other evidence to establish liability and quantum
Liaise with approved medical experts and external agencies
Conduct ongoing risk assessments and escalate cases with low prospects of success
Advise clients on fraud and fundamental dishonesty risks
Ensure timely issuance of proceedings and compliance with court directions
Instruct Counsel and attend conferences as needed
Maintain accurate and clear instructions from clients and litigation friends
Proactively manage schedule entries and performance targets
Support colleagues with file reviews and case handovers when required

Experience & Skills Required

Experience managing a personal injury caseload independently
Strong working knowledge of CPR, relevant case law, and legislation
Understanding of the Intermediate Track Fixed Fee regime (Oct 2023)
Excellent client care and communication skills
Ability to build rapport with clients and external professionals
Strong IT skills and familiarity with case management systems
Organised, methodical, and adaptable approach to work
Team player with a willingness to support and learn from others
Empathetic and patient communicator
