Project detail

We’re working with a leading global bank to support one of the most critical functions in their EMEA business. This is not a technical data governance role – it’s aimed at someone who understands data but comes from a Risk, Finance or Reporting background, with a PM or Business Analyst mindset, able to support high-impact regulatory programmes and act as a trusted right-hand to senior leadership.

As part of a growing and well-established Data Office, this person will help embed governance best practice across the Risk and Finance domains, building towards full BCBS 239 compliance. You don’t need to be an expert in BCBS 239 – but you will need to know your way around data quality, ownership, lineage, and how to influence senior stakeholders across the business.

What makes this different?

Business-first data governance: this is not about systems or tooling – it’s about working with the business to shape process, ownership and decision-making.
Opportunity to drive change and play a central role in one of the firm’s flagship regulatory programmes.
Strong runway for progression – the Data Office is growing fast, and this hire will be key to its next phase.

What we’re looking for:

Background in data governance with strong business understanding – ideally from a Risk, Finance, or Regulatory Reporting setting
Comfortable taking ownership of governance activity end-to-end across prioritised use cases
Experience as a project manager or business analyst, especially within regulated environments
Confident working with senior stakeholders, with the ability to challenge and influence
Strong working knowledge of data quality, metadata, lineage, and ideally BCBS 239 (but not essential)
Familiarity with data governance tooling such as Collibra would be a bonus

The role will involve:

Supporting the implementation of data governance standards and frameworks across Risk & Finance
Acting as a key point of contact and project support for the BCBS239 programme
Defining data ownership, lineage, and quality measures across critical data sets
Driving stakeholder education, engagement and buy-in across the division
Collaborating with tech and data teams to ensure changes are delivered in line with business needs

What’s on offer:

Salary up to £95,000 depending on experience
Hybrid working (typically 2-3 days onsite in London)
Excellent benefits package including private medical, generous holiday and L&D support
Opportunity to help shape and embed a new data governance culture in a high-impact area
