Chartered / Building Surveyor Opportunity – Brighton
About the Role
A respected, nationwide surveying firm is expanding its team and currently seeking a Chartered or Building Surveyor to join their operation in Brighton. With more than two decades of success and growth, this family-run company has earned a strong reputation for delivering high-quality residential and commercial surveying services throughout England and Wales.
Company Overview
Founded 23 years ago by a former estate agent and property manager, the company has grown into a 60-strong team operating across the country. Their services include Level 2 Homebuyer Reports, Level 3 Building Surveys, structural inspections, and commercial reporting. Clients range from private homeowners to insurers and mortgage lenders, and the team also supports architectural design, structural calculations, expert witness reporting, and boundary disputes.
The business maintains a close-knit, supportive working culture. All surveyors are personally known by senior management and are supported by a dedicated bookings team and a logistics and quality control department, which ensures all reports are processed within 24-48 hours.
Surveyor Responsibilities
The successful candidate will manage a varied workload of up to seven appointments per week. Residential surveys are carried out within a 20 to 30-mile radius of the surveyor’s home, while more detailed building surveys may require travel up to 50 miles. The role will include a mix of residential and commercial work depending on the individual’s experience. Full training is provided at the head office, with accommodation included.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The firm is seeking individuals who hold MRICS or AssocRICS accreditation, although those progressing toward RICS membership may also be considered. Strong report-writing skills are essential, and candidates must be willing to quickly learn and adapt where experience is limited. This is a hands-on, client-focused role, ideal for someone seeking both autonomy and team support in equal measure.
Salary and Benefits
The role offers a salary range of £35,000 to £55,000 depending on experience. Additional benefits include a £5,000 annual car allowance, a points-based bonus scheme linked to completed surveys, a fuel card, 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, covered RICS membership fees, and a £500 annual CPD allowance.
Why This Role?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a long-established, forward-thinking firm that genuinely values its people. The company offers a stable and supportive working environment, strong career progression, and a chance to be part of a trusted name in the surveying industry.
