Camphill Milton Keynes (CMK) is a vibrant community providing support, care, and opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and autism. We are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new accessible house in Pennyland—our first in this unique, inclusive community. Designed specifically for adults with learning disabilities who may also have physical or age-related needs, this new home represents an exciting chapter in CMK’s growth and a chance to pioneer a truly person-centred service.

The Role:

We are seeking a creative and skilled Theatre Manager/Administrator to take on the running of our amazing Chrysalis Theatre, driving its strategic direction and maintaining its operational management for our charities internal use and external hire and performance.

You will have good experience of working in this kind of environment but most importantly an empathy and understanding of disability and creativity – and how these two things often come together.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic direction and leadership for The Chrysalis Theatre.
Manage leases, contracts, and compliance to ensure sustainability.
Maintain accountability and effective working relationships across the team.
Mitigate risks, including adherence to Health & Safety and Safeguarding legislation.
Balance internal workshop space needs with external rentals.
Build relationships with local community members, businesses, and organizations.
Ensure hire activities align with the charity’s objectives.
Theatre Administration:
Oversee day-to-day operations, including rentals, equipment hire, purchasing, and administration.
Assist organisations and productions hiring the theatre, including stage support during get-ins and get-outs.
Ensure safe working practices and maintain tidiness.
Plan and coordinate theatre hires and rentals.
Act as a keyholder and be on the emergency call-out list.
Duty Management:
Act as Duty Manager during working hours.
Manage events, including audience management, bar, box office, and customer service.
Coordinate staff and volunteers, provide technical support, and handle first aid if needed.
Reset and organise the space after events, including cleaning and waste disposal.
Report accidents/incidents and ensure site security.
Program bookings and shows, ensuring they align with the charity’s objectives.
