Hays is proud to be working in partnership with HMP Styal to recruit a reliable and proactive Stores Person to support the day-to-day operations within the prison’s facilities management team.
Your new role
As a Stores Person, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the prison’s stores and inventory systems. You’ll be responsible for receiving, checking, storing, and issuing goods and materials, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the wider maintenance and facilities teams.

Receive and inspect deliveries, ensuring accuracy and quality
Organise and maintain stock in a clean and orderly manner
Issue tools, equipment, and materials to staff and contractors
Maintain stock records and complete regular inventory checks
Ensure compliance with health and safety and security procedures
Liaise with suppliers and internal departments as required

What you’ll need to succeed

Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or logistics environment
Good organisational and record-keeping skills
Basic IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, stock systems)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
A strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail
Willingness to undergo security clearance and vetting
Knowledge of facilities management or maintenance environments
Forklift licence (not essential
