As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a key role in delivering new business, managing existing accounts, and supporting the continued growth and profitability of the portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished underwriter with strong market relationships to step into a role with real influence, impact, and career progression.

The Role

Drive new business opportunities while contributing to strategy, innovation, and key projects.

Provide oversight, mentoring, and support to junior members of the team.

Key Accountabilities

Actively promote the company’s brand and proposition through broker engagement, client meetings, and external networking events.

Underwrite individual risks, assessing exposure, loss history, terms and conditions, and premiums within authority levels.

Support portfolio management by analysing data, actuarial models, and performance metrics to ensure profitability and growth.

Collaborate with internal teams (claims, risk consulting, finance, compliance, and other product lines) to deliver seamless service.

Identify cross-sell opportunities and support broader business development initiatives.

Represent the Engineering & Construction team in internal forums, committees, and projects.

Contribute to process improvement and optimisation initiatives across the business.

Skills & Experience

5+ years of underwriting experience in Engineering, Construction, or related lines, ideally across UK and international markets.

ACII qualified (or equivalent), or working towards completion.

Strong technical underwriting expertise with the ability to analyse complex risks.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and networking skills with a track record of building trusted broker and client relationships.

Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and adapt underwriting strategies accordingly.

Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

Comfortable providing guidance and oversight to more junior colleagues.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a motivated, commercially minded underwriter with a collaborative approach and a strong presence in the London and UK markets. You will be ambitious, solutions-oriented, and keen to contribute to both the success of your team and the wider business.
