We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected law firm based in Kent, with offices in Kent. The firm is looking for a skilled and motivated Probate Solicitor to join its expanding team. You will be joining a department that deals with a broad range of client matters, including complex estate administration, tax planning, trusts, and lasting powers of attorney. The firm actively encourages staff development and rewards initiative and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
As a Probate Solicitor, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Managing a caseload of probate files, from initial instruction to estate distribution
Advising clients on inheritance tax planning, wills, trusts, and LPAs
Working with taxable and non-taxable estates, including high-value or complex matters
Drafting legal documents with precision and clarity
Registering and managing Lasting Powers of Attorney
Maintaining high levels of client care and compliance with regulatory standards
Supervising and supporting junior team members
Contributing to business development initiatives and representing the firm in client meetings and networking events
Candidate Requirements
Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with at least 3–5 years’ PQE
Strong technical understanding of estate administration and inheritance tax
Confident managing files independently and working collaboratively with others
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Commercial awareness and a proactive attitude toward business development
Experience in mentoring or supervising junior staff is a bonus
STEP qualification is desirable but not essential (support available if working towards it)
