Role Overview
This is a key role supporting the day-to-day running of the organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial administration, general office support, and acting as a point of contact for families and staff. You’ll work closely with the leadership team to ensure smooth operations and accurate record-keeping.
This role requires occasional travel within the Datchet area. A full UK driving licence and flexibility are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Financial Duties
Manage and reconcile accounts including fees, funding, and petty cash
Prepare and issue invoices to families
Monitor outstanding payments and follow up professionally
Support managers with funding claims and ensure timely submissions
Maintain accurate and confidential financial records in line with GDPR
Communication & Relationship Management
Act as a point of contact for fee and payment queries
Liaise with local authorities and funding bodies regarding childcare funding
Prepare financial reports and updates for the leadership team
General Office Support
Respond to finance-related emails and correspondence
Assist with compliance and regulatory paperwork
Ensure financial procedures reflect best practice in the early years sector
Team Support & Flexibility
Travel locally to support on-site tasks and meetings
Build strong working relationships with managers, staff, and external partners
Adapt to the evolving needs of a busy early years environment
Person Specification
Essential:
Experience in financial administration or bookkeeping
Excellent numerical and organisational skills
Strong IT proficiency (Microsoft Office; willingness to learn nursery management software)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally
Desirable:
Experience within early years or education settings
Knowledge of childcare funding streams (e.g. 15 and 30 hours entitlement)
