Location: Chesterfield Hospital, Chesterfield, UK

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hourly Rate: £12.21 per hour to £12.36 (PAYE)
Contract Type: Interim

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Audio Typist to support the Paediatrics Department at Chesterfield Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for transcribing medical audio dictations accurately and promptly, ensuring high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

Day-to-day of the role:
Accurately transcribe audio dictations from paediatric consultants and clinicians into written medical documentation.
Format and proofread documents to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with NHS standards.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations at all times.
Prioritise and manage workload to meet departmental deadlines.
Liaise with clinical and administrative staff to clarify any unclear dictations or documentation requirements.
File and store transcribed documents appropriately within the hospital’s electronic systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience as an audio typist, preferably within a healthcare or NHS setting.
Excellent typing speed and accuracy.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, particularly in paediatrics, is highly desirable.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and hospital transcription systems.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
Previous experience working in a paediatrics department.
Familiarity with NHS systems such as Lorenzo, Meditech, or similar.
