Role: National Specification Sales Manager

Salary: Competitive, Company Car/Or Allowance & Bonus.

Overview

The National Specification Sales Manager is responsible for managing a team focused on business development with key customers within Local Authorities, Housing Associations, national/regional housebuilders, public sector institutions, private and public rental properties to achieve revenue targets. Through effective national and team management and cross-functional collaboration, the Specification Manager will contribute to strategic objectives, building strong partnerships with key contacts whilst delivering on Secure Meters’ solution selling strategy across hardware and services.

In addition to managing a team, the National Specification Sales Manager will work closely with all sales, supporting and internal teams to help develop new and existing business focused on cross-selling and up-selling to maximise revenue across customer segments.

Additionally, the National Specification Sales Manager would lead contract negotiations, develops business plans, and implement sales strategies that align with corporate objectives, contributing to the company’s overall success.

The Job

The main responsibilities of the role include:

Sales Strategy & Execution:

Lead sales relationships with Local Authorities, Housing Associations, national/regional housebuilders, and their supply chains.
Explore opportunities in the private rental sector driven by energy efficiency and decarbonisation legislation (MEES) to promote specification of Secures’ product
Collaborate with public sector institutions (universities, hospitals, schools, etc.) on their decarbonisation efforts to ensure our solutions are specified for their Net Zero and sustainability goals
Work closely with key decision-makers to secure the specification of Secures’ solutions in both new build and retrofit projects.
Collaborate with sales teams across segments to identify and win cross­ selling and up-selling opportunities, and stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and technology.

Customer Relationship Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, distributors, and stakeholders to drive long-term business growth.
Conduct regular customer visits to understand needs, provide solutions, and identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities across Secure Meters products.
Ensure high customer satisfaction by offering timely support and acting as the main point of contact for tier 1 customers in the UK market.
Develop and manage client visit schedules, events, and promotional activities, while maintaining accurate records using CRM tools.

Market Analysis & Business Development:

Remain up to date on relevant legislative frameworks and government policy and incentives (e,g, Net Zero, Retrofit grants and funding, MEES, Heat Networks etc.) and leveraging this knowledge to drive specifications
Pursue new and continue to develop existing sales opportunities, in addition to targeting new market segments and client verticals.
Collaborate with the product development team on customer needs and explore partnerships and distribution channels to expand market presence.
Optimise sales territory management to ensure maximum customer coverage and efficient allocation of resources to key opportunities.

Revenue & Profitability Management:

Monitor sales revenue and profitability, ensuring targets are met and implement pricing strategies aligned with company objectives.
Report on financial performance, sales forecasts, and projections to management.

The Person:

The ideal candidate should have a solid general education, including qualifications in Maths, English, and IT, with a qualification or equivalent in Business, Marketing, or a related field. An IEE electrical/electronic HNC/HND or equivalent is advantageous.

With 2-5 years of people leadership, account management and sales specification experience, the candidate should have a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets, particularly with high-value clients. Industry experience in fields such as energy, technology, controls, or HVAC is preferred, alongside familiarity with company products and services.

The candidate must be skilled in business development, relationship building, and executing sales strategies that align with business objectives. They should be adept at market analysis, sales performance metrics, and CRM systems. Experience in closing deals, working cross-functionally with internal teams, and providing accurate sales forecasts and reports is essential.

The candidate should possess strong problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent organizational abilities. They must be able to manage time effectively, prioritize workloads, and communicate clearly in various formats, including written, oral, email, telephone, and presentations, tailoring their message to different audiences.

The candidate must have a full UK driving license and the ability to travel overseas as this will be required occasionally.
