About the Role

We are working on behalf of a well-established, FCA-regulated SME in the consumer insurance space to recruit a dynamic and experienced Head of Compliance. This is a pivotal leadership role within a fast-evolving business that delivers specialist insurance products.

The organisation is undergoing significant transformation, with a strong focus on enhancing its compliance framework, data governance, and customer journey. As Head of Compliance, you will play a key role in shaping the compliance strategy, managing enterprise risk, and ensuring regulatory alignment across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of a proportionate compliance strategy.
Oversee horizon scanning and regulatory change management.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster a culture of compliance.
Ensure effective governance and risk management frameworks are in place.
Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Drive initiatives around data protection, cyber security, and information governance.
Lead and develop the compliance team, ensuring high standards and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a confident and capable compliance professional with a strong background in financial services, ideally with experience in the insurance sector. You’ll be a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels.

Essential Skills & Experience

Degree-level education or equivalent.
Professional qualification in compliance or a related field.
Proven experience leading a compliance function within financial services.
Knowledge of the insurance and financial advice sectors.
Strong knowledge of FCA regulations, risk management, and governance.
Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a proactive approach.

Desirable

Experience working with regulators.
Familiarity with corporate governance frameworks.
Project management certification.
Proficiency in compliance and risk management tools, Excel, and PowerPoint.
