Communications Manager

Bristol/hybrid, 3 days a week office-based – super flexible on days and times of day in the office, very happy for people to avoid rush hour!

£45k-£55k plus great benefits

You will be a key member of the team, leading the strategic communications, marketing and PR, reporting directly to the MD.

Lead on the development of all customer acquisition and retention strategies and the development of the communications strategy, as well as the development of stakeholder and community engagement plans.

There’s a real mix of comms, marketing and PR duties to manage here, giving you masses of variety!

About you:

You’ll have a strong communications background, including internal and external comms.

Have designed and delivered communications strategies across the entire spectrum of comms disciplines, and be happy to work in a stand-alone capacity.

Superb copywriting skills are essential.

Previous community/public engagement experience

Lead on communications and PR matters with shareholders and partners

Write media releases, articles and statements.

Respond to requests from the media for comments, views and supporting information.

The role can be offered as full-time or on a 4-day-a-week basis, or fewer hours over 5 days, very flexible.

The job title could be Head of Communications or Communications Manager, our client understands that some people are more interested in job titles than others so it’s open!

It’s important to know that you won’t be managing a team here, you’ll enjoy the autonomy of managing the communications using freelancers and agencies as needed, so managing outsourced services would be useful experience too.

Duties:

Design and deliver communications strategies across the entire spectrum of communications disciplines, including community engagement

Maintain effective systems of consultation, community involvement and engagement and partnership working

Develop internal communications strategy to engage team members, including partner organisations and shareholders

Manager social media strategy and direction

Crisis comms, including managing social media issues/comments

Responsibility for the development and management of the website including generating content, making improvements to functionality, maximising its potential and monitoring performance

Write media releases, articles and statements

Respond to requests from the media for comments, views and information

Lead and direct the compilation, writing, editing, design, production, and distribution of printed, audio-visual, and digital materials

Source and manage agencies/consultancies where support is needed

Work with local community groups to ensure the views of the communities are at the heart of the business.
