Role Overview
The Assistant Trading Underwriter will support the day-to-day underwriting and trading activity within the regional office. You’ll work closely with underwriters and brokers, helping to assess risks, prepare quotes, and manage renewals across a range of commercial property and casualty lines. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a client-facing, fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in underwriting new business and renewals within agreed authority limits

Support brokers with queries and develop strong trading relationships

Help gather and assess risk information and supporting documentation

Work collaboratively with senior underwriters to prepare quotations and negotiate terms

Maintain underwriting files and data accuracy within internal systems

Monitor and manage renewals and mid-term adjustments

Liaise with operations and compliance teams as needed

What We’re Looking For
Previous experience in a commercial insurance or underwriting support role (2-3 years preferred, but not essential)

Strong interpersonal and communication skills – comfortable working with brokers

A proactive and organised approach to managing tasks and priorities

High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling

Eagerness to develop technical underwriting skills in a trading environment

Insurance qualifications (or working towards them) are a plus
