Are you an experienced Payroll Supervisor or Assistant Payroll Manager with a solid background in accountancy practice? We’re working with a well-established Central London firm seeking a confident payroll professional to join their growing team.

About the Role:

As Payroll Assistant Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading a small team and ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant payroll services to a varied client portfolio. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role while maintaining hands-on involvement in payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and support the payroll team, ensuring high standards of service delivery
Review payroll processing and act as the first point of contact for technical queries
Manage a small portfolio of client payrolls, including onboarding new clients
Identify and implement improvements to payroll procedures and team workflows
Hold weekly meetings with the Payroll Manager to address service issues and solutions
Stay current with payroll legislation and ensure compliance across all client payrolls

Candidate Requirements:

Experience leading a payroll team within an accountancy practice
Strong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Working knowledge of auto-enrolment legislation
Ability to manually calculate PAYE and NIC

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 5:30pm
