Your new company
You will be joining a privately-owned and multi-accredited civil engineering contractor based in Birmingham specialising in the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the Midlands region. This multi-sector and established contractor has a strong orderbook and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. This is a full-time permanent position based initially in the Warwickshire area.
Your new role
As Appointed Person, your responsibilities will include:
Planning, coordinating and supervising lifting operations
Assessing lifting equipment, method statements, risk assessments and lift plans to ensure safety and efficiency
Liaising with site management, crane operators, riggers and subcontractors to coordinate lifts and resolve any issues
Inspecting lifting equipment for defects and ensuring all machinery and accessories are certified and compliant
Ensuring all lifting activities are carried out according to industry best practices and company standards
Maintaining accurate records of lifting operations, including lift plans, equipment inspections and incident reports
Participating in site safety meetings and audits relating to lifting operations
Ensuring compliance with Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and other relevant health & safety legislation.
What you’ll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you must have:
Experience as an Appointed Person within civil engineering on large-scale projects
Comprehensive knowledge of LOLER and other relevant health & safety legislation
Experience in producing lift plans and risk assessments
Understanding of lifting equipment, cranes and slinging techniques
Appointed Person training certification (e.g. IPAF Appointed Person or equivalent)
Banksman/Slinger certification
Full UK driving licence.
