Accounts & Tax Assistant -Office based ,Temporary to permanent full time

Salary: £24,000-£30,000/ year

Elite Audit & Finance are representing this small and friendly accountancy firm in seeking an Accounts Assistant to cover maternity leave.

Their client base is predominantly owner-managed businesses and private clients with investment portfolios. The firm prepare accounts, tax returns but also provide tax advice and help to small businesses.

The office is in a pleasant residential area and easily accessible , it is very close to Parsons Green tube station.

We are looking for someone charismatic and energetic to work as an assistant to our team and communicate directly with our clients. It would suit a graduate with some experience of working in an office. The successful candidate will get full on-the-job training and the prospect of career development. There is the potential to get training towards a professional qualification such as ATT, CTA, ACCA or ACA. This would include study leave and payment of course fees.

Responsibilities

Maintaining the client database on IRIS Accountancy Suite
Bookkeeping using Quickbooks Online, Excel and other bookkeeping and accountancy packages
Corresponding with clients including gathering information for the preparation of tax returns, arranging meetings etc
Inputting tax return information into IRIS Personal Tax
Extracting relevant and accurate information from client documents and client files for the purposes of bookkeeping or preparing tax returns.
Logging and dealing with HMRC correspondence
Preparing standard documents
General office admin including diary management, scanning, filing
Assist in marketing the firm including upkeep of the website and organising newsletters
Assist the managing partner with managing daily workload
Inbox management
Answering phone and door to the office

What we are looking for:

Strong time management, prioritisation and organisation skills.
Experience in management of documents both paper and electronic.
Excellent numeracy and communication skills (both written and spoken) and be able to liaise confidently and professionally with both clients and colleagues.
Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Word
Must be prepared to work in a team
An ability to work quickly and accurately and work to strict deadlines
An eye for detail
Although not essential, ideally the candidate would have some experience of bookkeeping and software such as Quickbooks, Xero or Sage.
Motivated and quick to learn.
