A Japanese organisation is seeking a Marketing & Communications Officer to promote Japan as a leading travel destination for visitors from the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.
You will support the organisation’s communication activities through their website, social media channels, press releases, and newsletters, while also contributing to creative campaigns and tourism promotion projects.
This is a dynamic role for someone with excellent communication skills, digital expertise, and a passion for Japan and travel.

Contract Type: Full-time, 23-month fixed term (with possibility of renewal after contract completion; 3-month probation period applies)
Salary: £31.2k per annum
Working Hours: Monday–Friday (flexibility required for evening events)
Start Date: TBD
Location: London (hybrid work available up to 2 days/week after probation)
Travel Requirements: Approx. 2 overseas trips per year (Japan and other European/Middle Eastern countries; frequency subject to business needs)
Marketing & Communications Officer Main Responsibilities
Work to achieve marketing and communication targets, both individually and as part of the London office team
Act as the first point of contact for enquiries from consumers, media, and partner channels
Source, create, and manage content across communication channels, including the website and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube)
Write informative and engaging press releases and news articles for the London office’s website and newsletters.
Provide creative input in the creation and implementation of projects, campaigns, and social media strategies
Conduct research to support projects and monitor market news and trends.
Monitor media coverage and assist in compiling monthly reports
Manage media databases and maintain accurate contact lists
Perform other duties as assigned by the Marketing & Communication Manager, Directors, and Head Office
Marketing & Communications Officer Skills & Experience
Essential:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational and time management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Confidence using online tools and social media platforms
Preferred:
In-depth knowledge of Japan as a travel destination
Japanese language ability (reading, writing, speaking, listening)
Skills in HTML, Google Analytics, CMS, Photoshop, Salesforce
Proven digital skills, particularly in using social media to engage and grow audiences
Experience in relevant industries such as travel, media, or destination marketing
Understanding of market trends, particularly in the travel industry

Detail-oriented and highly organised
Self-motivated, resourceful, and strong problem-solving ability
Intuitive, with the ability to anticipate priorities and identify potential issues proactively
