Burford Recruitment is delighted to be working exclusively with our client, a highly respected and growing wholesaler supplying into the charity sector, in their search for an experienced Warehouse Team Leader to join their dynamic team in Witney.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and hands-on professional to lead warehouse operations, drive continuous improvement, and ensure the highest levels of service delivery for their valued customers.
Key Responsibilities
As Warehouse Supervisor, you will:
Oversee all day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and dispatch.
Lead, manage, and develop a team of 6–8 warehouse staff – from recruitment and training through to scheduling and performance reviews.
Work with supported employment – Job coaching and matching, on-the-job support as well as follow-along support, and Integration into mainstream workplaces.
Maintain accurate inventory control through data entry, cycle counts, and reconciliation with Sage.
Implement and enforce Health & Safety policies, ensuring full compliance with HSE standards.
Manage warehouse equipment maintenance schedules and liaise with contractors to ensure freight compliance.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including stock accuracy, pick rates, and order turnaround.
Identify and deliver process improvements to drive efficiency, cost savings, and high standards of customer service.
Collaborate closely with operations, transport planners, and customers to meet and exceed SLAs.
Support sustainability initiatives across the warehouse function, including waste reduction and recycling.
About You
We are seeking an organised and proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. To be considered, you will ideally have:
At least 3 years’ proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor or Manager.
Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS).
Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of coaching and motivating teams.
A proactive, solution-focused mindset and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel and Word).
Desirable Attributes
Experience in project management or implementing process improvements (Lean, 5S, etc.).
A forklift licence.
A recognised qualification or experience in team management and training.
A data-driven approach to decision-making, using KPIs and analytics.
An interest in sustainability and developing environmentally responsible practices.
