Operations Manager

Milton Keynes – Full time on site

£35,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Fixed term (2 years, with potential for extension)

We are looking for a dedicated and versatile Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a unique and nationally significant organisation based in Milton Keynes. This is a dynamic, people-facing role that spans facilities, front-of-house, events support, and team leadership.

Your responsibilities as an Operations Manager will include:

Managing daily operations including admissions, front-of-house, and small retail/café activities.
Overseeing stock management, introducing new products, and maintaining well-presented displays.
Leading and motivating a small team, including volunteers.
Ensuring the environment is clean, organised, and welcoming at all times.
Taking responsibility for facilities and health & safety compliance, including external storage spaces.
Supporting the delivery of public events and development of new exhibitions/displays.
Working collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors.
Contributing to grant applications and other operational funding strategies.

What we are looking for:

Experience in a customer-facing operational role, ideally in a visitor-focused environment.
Previous team management experience, including volunteers or small teams.
Strong organisational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced setting.
Front-of-house and retail or café experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Health & safety knowledge (essential).
First Aid and safeguarding training (desirable).
Experience supporting events, exhibitions, or educational displays is a plus.
A hands-on, flexible, and proactive attitude.
