Assistant Financial Accountant
Annual Salary: £38,000 – £42,000 (dependent on experience)
Location: Chelmsford City Centre
Job Type: Full-Time, Office Based (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

Join a great companies finance team as an Assistant Financial Accountant, where you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our accounting processes. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple financial tasks efficiently.
Day-to-day of the role:
Invoice Processing: Oversee the processing of purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy and correct coding to relevant departments.
Supplier Payments: Prepare and check payment runs, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers.
Sales Ledger: Manage the processing of sales invoices, credit notes, and the allocation of customer receipts.
Bank Reconciliations: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
Petty Cash Management: Handle petty cash requests and reconcile accounts regularly.
Expense Claims: Process employee expense claims in compliance with company policies.
Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for audit purposes.
Month-End Support: Assist with closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
VAT Returns: Help prepare VAT returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
Ad Hoc Reporting: Provide financial reports and analysis as requested.
Audit Support: Assist during audits by providing necessary documentation and responses.
Credit Card Expenses: Manage and reconcile credit card expenses.
Payroll: Assist with monthly payroll processing.
CIS Returns: Compile and submit monthly returns.
Subcontractor Payments: Process timesheets and invoices for payment.
General Administrative Duties: Handle finance-related queries and support the wider finance team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Level 4 AAT qualification, ideally working towards ACCA.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in a finance or accounting role.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
Proficiency in Sage and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Strong communication skills and teamwork ability.
