Lead Engineer – Global investment bank – McGregor Boyall

We are partnering with a global financial institution on a Greenfield platform build that will redefine large-scale risk and trading technology. This is an opportunity to join at SVP level as a hands-on Technical Lead, steering engineering standards, cloud strategy, and distributed system design for one of the most ambitious financial technology projects in the world.

What you’ll do

Lead technical direction of a next-gen cross-asset risk platform

Drive cloud adoption (AWS & GCP), with hands-on focus on Kubernetes and distributed systems

Set coding standards, architecture patterns, and best practices across a global engineering team

Work with senior stakeholders, cloud vendors (AWS, Google), and quant teams to scale the platform

Mentor and guide developers while staying hands-on in the codebase

What we’re looking for

Expert knowledge of Java / JVM / Spring Boot

Deep experience with Kubernetes (EKS, GKE) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)

Proven background in distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and high-performance platforms

Strong leadership skills – able to influence, mentor, and set technical strategy

Experience with messaging and data technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, Apache Ignite)
