Head of Financial Reporting

Gleeson Recruitment Group are exclusively recruiting for a Head of Financial Reporting to join a market-leading organisation based in Birmingham, offering hybrid working, long-term career development, and a collaborative, forward-thinking culture.

The Opportunity

As the Head of Financial Reporting, you will play a key role in leading the financial reporting function, ensuring high-quality statutory and regulatory reporting, maintaining robust controls, and supporting the wider finance team with technical accounting expertise. This is a high-profile role with regular exposure to senior stakeholders and the executive leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the preparation and delivery of all statutory accounts and financial reports in line with IFRS and UK GAAP.

Own the group consolidation process and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.

Manage external audit processes and relationships, ensuring clean audits and timely delivery.

Provide technical accounting guidance across the business, including support on complex transactions and new standards.

Drive continuous improvement across reporting processes, systems, and internal controls.

Lead and develop a high-performing team, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.

Partner with senior leadership on ad-hoc projects, M&A activity, and group finance initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this Head of Financial Reporting role you will possess the following:

Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent), ideally trained in a top-tier practice.

Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.

Proven experience in a senior financial reporting role within a large or complex business.

Confident communicator with the ability to influence at board and executive level.

Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset and a drive for continuous improvement.

Experience with group consolidations and managing audit processes.

Preferably a degree in accountancy, economics or business.
