About the Role:
We are working with a dynamic and growing Managing General Agent (MGA) in the heart of London’s insurance market. They are looking to hire a Cross Class Underwriting Assistant to support their team of underwriters across multiple insurance product lines.
This is an ideal opportunity for a recent graduate or school leaver looking to start their career in insurance. You’ll receive full training and hands-on experience in underwriting, administration, data processing, and policy documentation – all while learning from some of the industry’s best.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and operational support to underwriters across various insurance classes (e.g. property, casualty, professional lines, and more)
Input, update, and maintain accurate data within internal underwriting systems
Assist in reviewing and preparing policy documentation, endorsements, and binders
Support in coordinating with brokers and clients for documentation and information
Conduct basic risk data checks and ensure compliance with internal procedures
Maintain organised records and assist with reporting and bordereaux
Liaise with internal departments (compliance, finance, operations) to support end-to-end underwriting processes
Learn underwriting principles and contribute to the ongoing efficiency of the team
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Recent graduate or school leaver with strong A-level results or equivalent
Interest in insurance, risk management, or financial services
Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
Comfortable working with data and documents
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word)
Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
Ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Proactive, eager to learn, and ready to take on responsibility
