About the Role
Our client, a leading international professional services firm, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Claims Dispute & Litigation Controller to join their dynamic legal operations team based in Newcastle. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of complex County Court disputes, primarily on behalf of corporate clients. These cases, while often falling within the small claims track, frequently involve nuanced legal and procedural challenges. You will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality outcomes, mentoring junior colleagues, and supporting the continuous improvement of legal processes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of complex or strategic litigation matters from inception to resolution.
Investigate liability and assess claims in line with regulatory and procedural guidelines.
Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and internal quality standards.
Lead on settlement negotiations and litigation strategy.
Deliver coaching, mentoring, and quality assurance across the team.
Collaborate with internal teams to support legal innovation and process improvement.
Contribute to training initiatives and knowledge sharing across the business.
What We’re Looking For
Significant experience in claims and litigation management, ideally within financial dispute – Minimum 3 years
Strong technical knowledge of dispute resolution processes.
Proven ability to coach and develop junior team members.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
High attention to detail and strong organisational capabilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Adaptability and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
Background in a legal or claims-focused environment (e.g., paralegal or claims handler).
Familiarity with legal technology tools and innovation in legal service delivery.
Degree-qualified or working towards a legal or business-related qualification.
Willingness to work flexibly during peak periods.
