Play a Key Role in Product Safety and Innovation
A market-leading company specialising children’s products are looking for an experienced Product Technologist to join their team in this is crucial role for the business.
You will be a detail-oriented Compliance professional with strong experience in quality assurance and quality control, and a background working with both Far East manufacturers and key account retailers. You’ll take the lead on ensuring product safety, compliance, and ethical standards across their product portfolio, whilst working closely with the design and development teams to influence product innovation from concept through to on-shelf at leading global retailers.

Key responsibilities include:
Determine product and component specific test requirements, generating Test Plan documents.
Conduct risk assessments and all documentation to maintain required technical files
Provide compliance packaging copy to our design department in a timely manner
Work to continually monitor product integrity performance in market and ensure effective & timely actions of unacceptable safety/quality issues
Oversee and achieve factory auditing.
Develop, implement and monitor QA policies and procedures
Develop, introduce and maintain Global product safety guidelines
Manage product safety reporting and analysis
Introducing and develop Quality Assurance tools within the product design process
Oversee inspection criteria at each factory, harmonising Inspection policy, procedure and standards across factories
Maintain and upgrade Company quality manual in line with latest regulations and retailer expectancies
Maintenance and continued development of the consumer complaint and returns analysis system to be used in Quality Improvement
Skills & requirements:
Experience in a similar role within consumer goods
Experience working with food contact items and / children’s products an advantage
Working knowledge of safety regulations and directives both UK and EU are essential, ideally including Food contact and new General Product Safety Regulations
Experience working with global vendors and testing houses
Understanding of Technical and Ethical Auditing, i.e. FCA, SMETA, BSCI
An eye for detail, accurate, and an excellent multi-tasker who is deadline driven
A first-class communicator and people person, with the ability to communicate clearly and positively across all levels, both internally and externally
Good Microsoft Office skills, including Excel (VLOOKUP’s, Pivot Tables, etc)
