Assistant Management Accountant
Location: Stansted area
Salary: £35,000 – £36,000
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (40 hours per week, office-based)

About the Role
An established company within the infrastructure and construction support services sector is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join its finance team. This position is a key part of the Finance Department and reports directly to the Finance Manager. The successful candidate will contribute to the preparation of management accounts, financial reporting, payroll, budgeting, and other critical finance functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare accurate and timely management reports
Assist in the production of financial statements including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
Perform daily bank reconciliations
Maintain the fixed asset register, including depreciation calculations and postings
Post month-end and year-end journals (prepayments, accruals, etc.)
Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Process monthly payroll and collate weekly payroll data for reporting
Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process
Provide budget holders with monthly spend updates
Liaise with auditors and accountants during the financial year-end process
Ensure timely and accurate HMRC submissions including VAT returns
Assist the Finance Manager with key projects
Provide support across the finance department as required
Act as a basic internal contact for IT issues, liaising with external consultants as needed
Required Skills and Experience

Part-qualified AAT / CIMA / ACCA or looking to study
2–3 years’ experience in a management accounting role
Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
Good organisational skills and a proactive approach
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level)
Experience with accounting software
